Dragonette - LIVE from the sink, part III

Published by AllisonWonderland under Live from RED

You’ve watched “Take It Like A Man”, you’ve savored the 1:30 of the new track “Gone Too Far”, and now here is “I Get Around” live from RED just the way we like it…live and from RED

I love how Martina gives a shoutout to Joel for playing all of the drum parts on his little midi keyboard…he usually plays a full kit — it’s not so easy to play midi drums that well, go Joel!

And don’t miss out on this sweet pre-order because t-shirts and CDs are great!!

Adventures with The Dagger

Published by The Dagger under Uncategorized

Like a drink at an over-priced bar, sometimes songs get watered down. You know the drill; artist breaks out an acoustic guitar & a tambourine and kills your favorite song. Well this, my friends, is not that…

The Ting Tings stopped by KROQ for an acoustic jam session recently and it sounds pretty darn rad. Check out the video below of “Shut Up And Let Me Go” live on Kevin & Bean. The Ting Tings are known for the infectious dance pop, but this song has a really different feel.
Dagger approved.

The Ting Tings are currently making stops around the U.S.! (oh, the excitement!) Catch them if you can!

Beck is wicked awesome.

Published by AllisonWonderland under Shows

So… seriously, all that scientology stuff aside, Beck is a wicked cool dude.

Last night - United Palace Theater - SOLD OUT to a sick crowd

Beck and all of his band mates are seriously committed musicians, and his arena style lighting was impressive too.  I’d never seen him live before last night and I’m telling you I would go again tonight if I could.  They were filming the show, do I hear…Beck Live on DVD???

Beck in all his arena lighting glory...

My picture is terrible…I promise you my seats where better than the picture makes them look.  My Blackberry doesn’t do very well at concerts, but I tried to capture the magic for you.

Andrew Bird at Hiro Ballroom

Published by AllisonWonderland under Shows

Andrew Bird @ Hiro 10.07.08

Last night I experienced Andrew Bird at the Hiro Ballroom in NYC.
Having seen Andrew before I thought I knew what I was in for but I was gleefully mistaken.  I failed to realize the intimacy of the venue and what type of effect that would have on the event.

Standing just feet from the stage I was able to really participate in all the workings of the musicians.  As anyone who has seen Bird would agree, his ability to breakdown his compositions into bits of string and percussion is phenomenal.  But being right there to witness him piecing them back together and looping them in and out of every single song was enlightening to say the least.  As a musician myself, I often marvel at the intricacies of musical composition and it’s refreshing to see them manifest themselves so flawlessly in Bird’s work.

Needless to say I’m ridiculously excited for his new album to come out.
