WACKEN 2008!!!

You metalheads out there all know that Wacken is basically the pinacle of metal festivals, held each year in Wacken, Germany.  If you don’t know, don’t talk to me.
This year a 70,000 sold out crowd (that’s the official number, the actual number was closer to 100,000) came to camp out and bang their heads to Maiden, Carcass, Gorgoroth, At The Gates, Lordi, As I Lay Dying, Watain, Primordial, Obituary, Nifelheim, Nashville Pussy, The Haunted, War Bringer, and many, many more.  The music went from 11 AM ’til after 3 AM and the German drinking songs never stopped.
After three days of metal, Becks, mud, and friends from around the world, I’m back to sleep and give you all a taste of the highlights.

It only rained once this year.  But thanks to the official Wacken ponchos, people were prepared!
It actually only rained once this year!

Lollapalooza 2008 Tips

Published by Dr. Dv8tor under Alternative, Festivals, Shows

Tips for Lollapaloozers:

Looks like the people who made the most amazing way to navigate all of the shows and events at SXSW have been linked to the official Lollapalooza site:

http://lolla08.sched.org/

Also, the official Lollapalooza schedule reads from stages on the North to the stages on the South end of Grant Park:

Time savers for sure!

Hoagiefest = Amazingfest

Published by timtats under Festivals, Uncategorized

Hoagiefest @ Wawa

If you are from any part of New Jersey, you know what a Wawa is… and you know where the closest one is located.  If you live in New York, you don’t even know where New Jersey is located, let alone a Wawa.

Currently, Wawa is having Hoagiefest where you can purchase a Shorti for a measly $2.99!  Which Shorti’s can you purchase?  Well, here’s the lineup… Italian, Cheesesteak, Turkey, & Meatball.  Yummmmmm.

NOW, you must visit the Hoagiefest website (www.hoagiefest.com).  If I could sum it up in one word, it would be amazing.  It is a Flash based website with 3 theme songs (At The Hoagiefest, Turkey So Fine, & Come On Down) created by Parry Gripp, singer of the band Nerf Herder.  Best part… you are able to download the three “jingles.”  That’s not it though, there are also ringtones. wallpapers, and buddy icons for free.

I hope you all get as excited as I am right now.  The songs are hillarious, and get they funnier everytime you listen them.  Don’t forget to visit your local Wawa store to celebrate in Hoagiefest!  If you need help finding your closest store, please click here.

More Bonnaroo-iness

Published by AllisonWonderland under Festivals, Tours

Maybe you’ve been to Bonnaroo, maybe you’ve always wanted to go…maybe…but one things for sure we’ve all heard just how crazy Bonnaroo experiences can be. Ever wonder what it’s like for the performing artists…

Nicole Atkins, singer and el presidente of Nicole Atkins & The Sea, reflects on and shares her 2008 Bonnaroo experience…

“When we got to the airport it was filled with hippies and i kinda felt like i was in high school again during my deadhead phase and got a bit nostalgic…and scared! haha! but at the actual festival, it was just one big party with so many different types of people. mischief in the air. it was wonderful.

Best Moment: when about 11 couples in our crowd started slow dancing with their bfs and gfs. that was amazing. also, i ran into my old roomate that i shared a floor of a warehouse with back in 04′ he’s a ragtime songwriter. i havent seen him in two years and now he’s part of some gypsy group that was playing at bonnaroo. he was waiting on the side of the stage while we played. such a nice suprise.

Worst Moment: having to leave on friday and miss the avett brothers and my morning jacket. booo me!”

howlin rain

Ethan Miller Bandleader, and guitarist of Howlin’ Rain shares his thoughts and feelings…

“I thought Bonnaroo was going to be a lot more juggling and hacky sack and hippy chicks twirling invisible power balls to jam bands, and there was some of that but by sundown its more Animal House meets Mad Max! By sundown no one can see straight enough to juggle anymore, its turned into pure party zone.

Worst moment: just after performing, 2:30am Friday night, in a field, trying to pack our flight cases into our van, Thunderstorm, rain just pissing down in buckets, the Fender Rhodes flight case and amplifier cases sinking into the mud, tired, destroyed, hungry, shivering in the cold and wet after burning to a crisp and drinking beer all day in the Tennessee sun, dark as hell, still have to drive an hour to motel down the freeway to catch our flights in atlanta the next morning.
